Software vendor appoints new indirect team to grow market penetration

Software management vendor, Vignette, has appointed four new channel account executives in an effort to enhance its indirect strategy.

It has promoted Avron Welgemoed from channel sales engineer to look after the northern region, including NSW, QLD and NT. It has also hired former CA staffer, Peter Bartnik, to cover the southern region covering VIC, WA and SA.

Darin McKay, who was most recently with Capitol Technology in New Zealand, will be in charge of NZ operations, while Michael Dillon has been brought on-board to address the public sector. Dillon previously worked for Siebel, QAS and Filenet, where he was responsible for managing customer relationships.

Newly appointed strategic alliances manager, Dan Ode, said it wanted to focus on partners and alliances to help grow the business. All the new recruits will be reporting directly to Ode.

"We are growing our channel strategy worldwide," he said. "The channel account executives will be working with our current partners and doing a lot of account mapping to grow the business through our partners and alliances. They will be uncovering new opportunities and working on accounts within various verticals that are aligned with our partners."

Ode declined to comment further on its vertical market strategy at this stage.

He said about 90 per cent of Vignette's infrastructure was now purely focused on partners and channel, whereas previously it was weighted towards direct sales.
