Audion pinpoints Travroute deal

Travoute parts company with FortuneTec and signs distribution deal with Audion Innovision

Niche distributor, Audion Innovision, has struck a partnership with local GPS vendor, Travroute, and parted company with former distributor, FortuneTec.

Travroute makes consumer-based GPS navigation solutions and peripherals, with a focus on PDA and smartphone applications. Audion sales and marketing director, Jamie Cox, said the arrangement expands Audion's product portfolio, which had previously concentrated on audio and visual multimedia equipment.

He cited big growth in GPS for Smartphone and Pocket PCs.

"We see a lot of bundling opportunities at telco and retail levels. Nokia phones have GPS built-in, but we're in discussions with other vendors," Cox said.

It would also work on several marketing initiatives including on-the-road demonstrations and cash back deals, he said.

Product and marketing manager at Travroute, Andrew McGregor, said Audion was an attractive option for targeting larger retail dealerships.

Travroute products will also continue to be available through Cellnet, but McGregor said the vendor had cut ties with FortuneTec because its products had not suited the distributor's market focus.

"We'll be utilising Audion's internal marketing initiatives, and continue to sell directly to consumer and B2B markets," he said.
