BEA beefs up channel team

Software vendor's new appointments to help improve channel's skill sets

BEA Systems has made two channel appointments to further strengthen and manage its indirect business.

Gary Johnson has been promoted to Australian channel sales manager having worked for BEA for the last five years in its Queensland territory. Michael Storey has also been brought on-board to focus on BEA's mid-market accounts. He comes to the software vendor after nine years' experience in the health sector with SAP.

BEA managing director, Dr Ali Al-Tarafi, said both positions were newly created and in response to massive growth.

"We've doubled business in the past year. We needed a team to focus on training and support for our partners, in terms of technical understanding, implementation and sales support," he said.

The team's initial point of focus is to develop skill sets in BEA's partner community.

Al-Tarafi said Storey's appointment also gave BEA access to a sector that was previously a white space - that of health services in state government.

BEA has seven staff dedicated to managing its channel. Al-Tarafi said there were plans to expand the team further in the near future.

"We've already seen very positive results from the appointments, and we continue to generate local and international interest," he said.
