Receivers appointed to WA Apple dealer

Digilife continues to trade from its Osborne Park location while receivers look for a buyer

Receivers have been called in to embattled WA-based Apple reseller chain, Digilife.

McGrathNicol was appointed on March 20 and is now looking for potential buyers for the business. It is understood the company expects the process to run up to six weeks. Expressions of interest close this week.

A spokesperson for McGrathNicol declined to comment on the reasons for Digilife’s problems or who had appointed receivers. He redirected all enquiries to Apple’s media team, which had not returned calls at the time of going to press.

Digilife was established nearly eight years ago and focused on Apple goods and accessories, as well as digital lifestyle products including photo and imaging solutions. The company was initially based in Mount Hawthorn before relocating its main store and head office to larger premises in Osborne Park earlier this year.

Digilife closed its second store in Perth in the weeks prior to receivership. The Osborne Park store continues to trade.

Digilife co-director, Chris Percival, was unable to elaborate on why receivers had been appointed, but claimed the retailer had been Apple’s fifth largest dealer in Australia at one stage. The chain formerly operated under the trading name, AppleCentre Mount Hawthorn.

It is understood Digilife’s suppliers included Apple and Sydney-based distributor, Simms International.
