LifeSize and Jabra sound rated ‘Avaya compliant’

Avaya has granted compliance to specific products from its DevConnect program partners, LifeSize and Jabra.

As members of the DevConnect program, LifeSize, and HD video collaborator, and Jabra, a hands-free communications solutions supplier, handed their products to the Avaya Solution Interoperability and Test Lab.

The LifeSize Passport and Express 220 and Jabra Speak 410 were approved for compatibility with Avaya Aura Communication Manager and Sessions Manager, when used with one-X Communicator software.

By implementing products into already existent infrastructure, LifeSize and Jabra aim to offer efficiency and performance, while reducing complexity and cost. This strategy allows for quick integration.

Avaya developer relations vice-president, Eric Rossman, said, “By participating in Avaya’s compliance testing program and committing to open standards, development partners... are helping businesses get more out of their network investment.”

The LifeSize Passport and Express 220 are flexible video communications devices that offer 720p and 1080p HD video quality.

Jabra’s Speak 410 USB Speakerphone is built to optimise call management. The device is ideal for one-on-one and small-group conferencing when paired with Avaya’s one-X Communicator.

FaceBook gaming changes

FaceBook is increasing games interaction with the implementation of a ticker which displays a stream of friends’ activities.

The ticker shows which friends are playing what, as well as their personal scores and achievements, allowing users to keep track or join in.

To account for personal privacy, FaceBook has allowed users to monitor their own information output by selecting which activities they want their friends to see, and what they wish to hide.

The system has received its share of flak, with complaints about information flooding, and the inability to disable friends’ activity for those who are not interested. On the other end of the spectrum, there is a lack of desired information and an influx of preference for the previous story system.

Alongside the ticker, FaceBook has increased game space by providing a full screen options for selected games (with many yet to be implemented).

Applications and games can now also be bookmarked, appearing separately on the home page.
