Norton One device to cover multiple devices
Norton has unveiled plans to implement the Norton One membership-based personalised protection service to accommodate for the device explosion.
The service aims to combine protection for PC, Mac and mobile devices through a cross-compatible security experience that utilises a single membership through one user interface.
Users will be able to add new devices to their membership, as well as remove licensing from those that are no longer in use. Included is a range of personalised and premium support, including security and performance assistance.
Symantec consumer business unit group president, Janice Chaffin, said, as part of the Norton Everywhere initiative, “Norton One is a new model that will address the security and service challenges that consumers face today.”
Norton One is scheduled for availability in the first half of 2012.
QlikTech drives collaboration with Chatter Connect integration
Business intelligence (BI) software company, QlikTech, is expanding the group collaboration capabilities of its QlikView Business Discovery platform through the integration of Salesforce’s Chatter Connect.
The combination enables data and analytics information sharing by embedding Chatter feeds, comments, and more into QlikView apps and dashboards.
QlikTeck A/NZ regional director, Mark Sands, said, “QlikView’s Chatter integration enables business users to collaborate around data-driven decisions, building on the Chatter enterprise collaboration platform to extend social BI to a new set of users. Now, QlikView users can benefit from Chatter’s social collaboration, and users in Chatter have visibility to insights discovered in QlikView.”
The collaboration encourages secured and private group operations through discussions and insights which contribute to decision-making.
Digium Switchvox revives Bialik College’s telephony infrastructure
Victoria’s Bialik College has replaced its outdated and expensive phone system with the implementation of a self-managed Digium Switchvox voice over IP (VoIP) telephony platform.
The cost-effective solution, which includes an AA355 Switchvox server and over 150 Polycom handsets enables the College to utilise IP PBX unified communications, with the ability to integrate its phone system partially or totally to its data network.
The new platform delivers advanced functionality as standard features, including conference bridging, call recording, call queues, interactive voice response (IVR) functionality and integrated voicemail, enhancing both internal and external communication for teachers and parents.
The customisable system also gives the college the opportunity to integrate Wi-Fi devices and use products such as the iPhone as softphones.
Bialik College head of technology, David Micallef, said, “the system is so easy to use that staff are able to manage their own telephony needs including change of name, email addresses, call forward, and time of day rules all through Switchvox’s browser based interface.”

Cybersecurity solutions provider Sourcefire, is mobilising its IT security via its Agile Security vision.
The focus of the solution is to implement protection measures that operate on a permanent loop as to enable contextual adaptation to minimise threats. The four tenets inform and reinforce the entire process, and include seeing, learning, adapting and acting.

IT security and data protection company, Sophos, has been positioned in the ‘leaders’ segment of Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Mobile Data Protection.
Sophos offer numerous endpoint security and data protection solutions to accommodate for dynamic contemporary workforces. The SafeGuard Enterprise (SGN) enhancements it made this year improved encryption and data loss prevention for multiple devices, including desktops, laptops and removable media.
This comes alongside the Mobile Control service, designed specifically to support mobile devices such as Apple iPhones and iPads, Google Android and Windows Mobile devices.

HP’s Enterprise Security Solutions portfolio breaks down threats with the rise of mobility and cloud
HP aims to eliminate lingering cyberthreats with its expanded Enterprise Security Solutions portfolio.
It aims to assist enterprises in building and executing security strategies to identify and prevent possible liabilities resulting from the rise of mobility, cloud computing, and social media.
Through a one-day Enterprise Security Discovery Workshop based on the portfolio’s framework, HP hopes to inform clients of the extensive consequences of unaddressed cyberthreats. Clients will be taught to identify the interaction required between information management and security operations while understanding their own organisation’s vulnerabilities.
HP has developed its Security Intelligence and Risk Management platform through a unified approach to enterprise security through the adoption of ArcSight, Fortify, and HP TippingPoint strategies.
The platform addresses cyberthreats through security testing and remediation for existing applications, and establishes stable foundations for future systems.
