Axis reveals network cameras with integrated edge storage
Network video solutions provider, Axis Communications, has announced a series of both small and fixed network cameras to add to its M10 and Q16 ranges.
The cameras are now built with edge (onboard) storage, resulting in the first full-featured solution that integrates with video management systems.
The Axis M1043-W and M1044-W provide 30 frames per second video in both SVGA (for the M1043-W) and HDTV 720p (for the M1044-W) resolutions. Each supports wireless 802.11n, and includes Wi-Fi Protected Setup for network security. Their small design caters for small businesses, retail, and residential video surveillance.
The indoor Axis Q1604 and outdoor-ready Q1604-E use wide dynamic ranger with ‘dynamic capture’ to acquire several images as to advance image processing and produce more clarity and sharpness. The progressive scan image quality is of a HDTV 720p resolution, with H.264 and motion JPEG streams.
They are built for both day and night functionality with two-way audio, and come with a sunshield for protection.
The new products incorporate edge storage, which serves as an on board recording solution. It operates via an SD/SDHC card, or to a designated network device. The system is suitable for secure recording, storing video during power failures or VMS maintenance.
All cameras include support for the Axis Camera Application Platform and Video Hosting System (AVHS), and will be available in Q4 2011.
Logitech Introduces wireless speaker and tablet keyboard
Computing, communication and entertainment hardware and software provider, Logitech, has released two new products to expand the capabilities of the iPad and Android-based tablets.
The Logitech Wireless Speaker allows connectivity from up to 50 feet away depending on use, settings, and environmental conditions.
It offers full stereo sound through its dual two-inch drivers with inbuilt bass. The rechargeable battery promises up to 10 hours of playback (again, dependent on use and settings). The product operates via Bluetooth wireless.
Logitech’s Tablet Keyboard-and-stand combo – which comes in two versions to cater for both Android and iOS, pairs with tablets via Bluetooth also, allowing a range of up to 30 feet.
