The Australian Open Tennis Championships 2012 app is a full guide and news service to keep fans up-to-date and live with proceedings at the tournament.

The app’s key feature is its ‘Scores’ tab, which offers live results that are automatically updated every 30 seconds, and can be toggled between matches in progress and completed matches.

It also contains a full schedule and draw list, as well as detailed player career biographies, and Open news.

For attendants, the AO app includes an ‘Event Guide’, which provides information on ‘Survival’, tickets, seating, transport, places of interest, eating, and so on. Additionally, the in-built ‘Find It” map pinpoints courts, gates, restrooms, transport, and other services.

Another useful feature is the ‘AO Radio’, which streams a live radio feed to your smartphone, and also allows you to submit questions for the team to answer.

Pros: Free, fast load times, detailed and concise

Cons: Requires Internet connection to update information, and is exclusive to iOS according to the App Store.

Verdict: A great app to keep AO fans up-to-date when away from a television, or during their visit to the location.
