Revenue record, award-winning APM, and a retail partnership

WatchGuard breaks grossing records

Business security solutions provider, WatchGuard Technologies reports that it achieved its top-grossing quarter with record-breaking 2011 Q4 billings, profit, and units shipped.

The company also announces double-digit sequential billings growth in Q4 over Q3, double-digit year-over-year growth from Q4 2010, and double-digit billings growth for the full year of 2011 over 2010.

WatchGuard attributes its success to a solid performance from its core SMB market, and accelerated demand among mid-market and enterprise organisations.

Additionally, it announced an increase of add-on services purchased along with its XTM appliances, of which the 8 and 10 series solutions account for 15 per cent of total A/NZ 2011 revenue.

WatchGuard currently offers seven add-on security services for XTM appliances: Application Control, WebBlocker, Gateway Antivirus, Reputation Enabled Defence, spamBlocker, Intrusion Prevention, and LiveSecurity.

Compuware’s APM receives top score

Technology performance company, Compuware Corporation’s APM (Application Performance Management) offering has received top scores in Forrester Research’s Market Overview: APM Q4 2011 report which assessed 26 vendors.

Compuware achieved top score in eight of the 10 categories of APM functionality.

The report stated, “The current economic conditions favour short-term returns on investments. In Today’s economy, IT organisations tend to favour tactical over strategic initiatives.”

Its Gomez platform is a end-user driven experience solution for optimising the performance of Web, non-Web, mobile, streaming and Cloud applications.

Forrester vice-president and principal analyst, JP Garbani, wrote in the report, “Compuware offers a full complement of end user monitoring solutions, from subscription services to a multiprotocol passive appliance, and the ability to monitor phones and tablet devices in real time.”

Next Athleisure adopts Island Pacific retail software for Topshop

Retailer Next Athleisure, which trades as Glue Store, has signed a license and services agreement with Island Pacific, a retail merchandising and store operations software solution provider. This announcement follows Next Athleisure’s acquirement of the UK Topshop and Topman stores.

Australia’s inaugural Topshore store, which opened last month in Melbourne’s Jam Factory, will be using Island Pacific’s Point of Sale (POS) for the store’s 15 lanes. Both Island Pacific’s Supply ERP system and real time Enterprise Service Bus will be utilised to manage inventory, merchandising, and head office functionality.

Topshop will also employ Island Pacific’s iPmobile solution, which offers the alleviation of long register queues by “queuebusting”, capture of customer information, and ad hoc stock inquiries. It also provides analysis of purchase data, voucher validation, stocktake, and stock transfers.
