Oracle opens second Aussie datacentre

To provide SaaS and PaaS solutions for Cloud customers

Cloud company, Oracle, has opened its second Australian datacentre to meet customer demand for Cloud-based services.

The facility will be housed in Equinix, and all offerings will be managed and supported by Oracle staff.

It will use Oracle Engineered Systems, including Exalogic Elastic Cloud and ExaData Database In-Memory Machine.

Oracle said the new datacentre will augment its existing local datacentre by offering further software-as-a-service (SaaS) and platform-as-a-service (PaaS) solutions to customers wanting to keep data onshore.

“The centre will help customers to continue to meet government regulatory requirements and help to ensure sovereignty of sensitive data,” Oracle Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ) regional managing director and senior vice-president, Ian White, said.

It will give customers and partners subscription-based, self-service access to Oracle Fusion Applications and Platform Services. The former includes open-standards-based business applications that set a new standard for the way organisations innovate, work, and adopt technology. The latter enables customers to take advantage of development, testing, and deployment of enterprise-class business applications.
