Minister for Broadband, Communications and the Digital Economy, Senator Stephen Conroy, has retorted against the Coalition government’s promise of providing retail broadband for $6 a month.
"The Coalition spokesperson for regional communications, Luke Hartsuyker, has said that they expect the retail price of a basic NBN plan to be $24 less per month under the Coalition plan,” Conroy said.
He claimed the cheapest entry level plan available on Labor's NBN plan costs $29.95 a month.
"That means the Coalition is claiming they can provide a retail service for $6 a month. Like most things the Coalition says about broadband, Mr Hartsuyker's claims are misleading and deceptive,” Conroy said.
According to Conroy, this is just another example of the Coalition lying about broadband.
Conroy added that Coalition communications spokesman, Malcolm Turnbull “must either confirm that the Coalition plans a retail broadband service for $6 a month or issue an immediate correction."
