Optus strikes $60 million Virgin deal

Optus will provide telecommunications services for Virgin as part of a five-year deal

Optus will now provide domestic and international telecommunications services for Virgin Australia as part of a $60 million five-year deal.

The deal will deliver domestic and international services as well as managed services over Optus' managed data network and was based on a wide range of criteria including partnering approach and regional delivery capability.

Optus managing director John Paitaridis said the announcement was testament to the vision of bringing together the best of Optus and SingTel to serve the end-to-end needs of customers operating in the Asia-Pacific region and globally,” he said.

“We have a united focus on delivering a state-of-the-art solution for Virgin Australia. This win is a further proof point of our recent restructure to bring together all our people, assets and capabilities into one organisation, highlighting our differentiation and absolute commitment to serving our business and government customers."

Virgin Australia Chief Information Officer, Lawrie Turner, said it was a significant step in the transformation of Virgin Australia's technology delivery and that he looked forward to realising the benefits of an expanded regional relationship with Optus and the SingTel Group.
