Internode founder and former boss, Simon Hackett, has bought into UltraServe through a “multi-million dollar” investment for a 40 per cent stake in the company.

UltraServe is a 14-year-old, Sydney-based managed hosting services provider. Its customer base spans ecommerce retailers including the likes of Catchoftheday, Deals Direct, Appliances Online, General Pants, and Radio Rentals.

UltraServe was previously owned solely by founder and chief executive officer (CEO), Samuel Yeats.

According to a statement from UltraServe, Hackett’s investment will enable it to accelerate its international growth, particularly in Europe and Asia.

“We can now take advantage of Amazon Web Services’ global Cloud infrastructure and other Cloud platforms to expand very efficiently in other countries,” Yeats said.

It will also use the cash to establish its Lighthouse customer management platform under a standalone company, Orchestrated, to support telecommunications carriers and managed services providers (MSPs).

“UltraServe has built a Cloud infrastructure orchestration system called Lighthouse, with some very unique features, that lets us offer a managed services layer across Amazon, VMware and other Clouds, which equips us to keep our vendors honest.”

Lighthouse is currently being commercialised. Yeats claims UltraServe is working with “some very large organisations” and will draw on Hackett’s investment as a basis for additional credibility and assurance.

“We are now commercialising Lighthouse for us in the telco and MSP [sectors] and are working closely with some very large organisations.”
