Local reseller, Artis Group, is seeing growing market interest in Cloud-based ERP solutions.
With the computing power available on tablets and more people doing banking on their smartphones, Southern region general manager, Andrew Long said the initial fear of doing business in the Cloud has faded.
“We’re seeing significant pickup in regards to potential customers wanting access to ERP on a Cloud-driven platform,” he said.
While SAP has made several attempts over the last seven years at bringing its ERP solution to market, Long said the ByDesign of today is “more flexible” than what “historical SAP offerings have been.”
“The product was too ahead of its time when SAP first released it, and they have realised that over time,” he said.

The Artis Group has been involved in ERP and ByDesign for almost two years.
Long said SAP provided an adequate level of support since the beginning, and more recently this has extended to developer access.
“They have opened up their doors a bit so we have been able to access the development team and receive help on some low-level, detailed questions,” he said.
The development team benefits from the feedback it receives from the client base and leverages that into improving the product, and vice versa.
“I liken ByDesign to Excel, where people know lots of little bits but no-one knows all of it,” Long said.
