Check Point Software Technologies has expanded its collaboration with VMware to extend security offerings to enterprise private Cloud environments through a new software-defined datacentre offering.
Check Point's vSEC virtual network security now integrates with the VMware NSX network virtualisation platform. The security vendor said this enables customers to consistently manage and enforce security for all datacentre traffic.
VMware senior director partner product management, networking and security business unit, Scott Clinton, said datacentre environments require fast deployment of applications and this meant security services need to keep pace with compute resources.
“VMware NSX with Check Point vSEC enables our mutual customers to simplify, accelerate and orchestrate Check Point’s advanced security services across the software-defined datacentre,” he said.
The firm said that despite recent high profile breaches that occurred inside datacentres, security is still mainly focused on perimeter defense. Moving these security controls inside the datacentre is complex and costly.
Check Point's head of product management platforms, datacentre and Cloud security, Itai Greenberg, said more and more organisations were looking to virtualise their environments.
"When they do that, they need to know that they’ll have access to the best Cloud and management infrastructure supporting them,” he said.
“Through our relationship with VMware, we’re able to join their industry-leading virtualisation and Cloud offerings with our first-class security solutions to empower organisations to operate without fear of data loss or a breach.”
Check Point said customers can accelerate their security service deployment and get the same level of security for traffic inside datacentres as the vendor provides at the perimeter gateway.
