An outage of a swathe of Amazon's cloud services in its Sydney region hit Australian businesses today.
Amazon Web Services reported a power issue at one of the Australian data centres delivering its cloud services, as Sydney was battered by a severe storm.
Services including EC2 and S3 were affected, with Amazon Web Services revealing that one of its Availability Zones in the Sydney Region had suffered a power loss.
AWS acknowledged connectivity issues involving some of its services at approximately 4pm Sydney time. Amazon said that some services began to recover about an hour and a half later.
As of 9pm, Amazon still reported connectivity issues for EC2, Elastic Load Balancing, ElastiCache, Redshift, RDS and Elastic Beanstalk. AWS also reported slow propagation times for its Route 53 private DNS service and increased latency for CloudFormation.
Our external vendor AWS confirmed Stan connection issues due to power outage within AWS. AWS & Stan are working to restore services ASAP.
