Current platform is “complex and fragmented”

Transport for NSW is looking for suppliers to build a platform that will give the state’s public transport users a consolidated access point to manage different transport services.

The agency’s Customer Channel Transformation Program (CCTP) is aimed at building a single sign-on or My Transport Identity capability to access several NSW Transport-related services via a single dashboard.

The portal is expected to allow users to access transport-related services and manage accounts including Opal, bike lockers, social media alerts, ticket bookings and others.

According to Transport for NSW, the current platform is “complex and fragmented” and has an “inconsistent ability to personalise”.

Potential suppliers will be evaluated on organisational, strategic and financial capabilities, ability to perform the requested services, resource capability and availability, proposed project management methodology and ability to achieve milestones and value.

Transport for NSW is initially looking for expressions of interest in order to evaluate the available technologies with this phase closing on 19 July.

The shortlisted respondents will be delivering their final offers in October with a contractor announced in November.

Transport NSW expects a “minimal viable product” to be available by February 2018.

CCTP is a Transport NSW program that aims to “empower customers, drive digital consolidation and customer engagement through all its channels”.

The move comes as the NSW Government calls on local tech players to pitch their ideas on how best to refresh the state’s digital voting system.

The NSW Electoral Commission released a request for information (RFI) to the market on 5 July, calling for pitches from tech players over how it should refresh the iVote system in preparation for the 2019 election.

According to the NSW Electoral Commission, the RFI process will give suppliers the opportunity to demonstrate new or innovative solutions that may better meet the needs of the agency.
