Sean Abbott steps into the A/NZ country manager post replacing Matthew Kates who is heading back to the US

Data replication and disaster recovery software provider, Zerto, has hired Sean Abbott as new country manager for Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ), replacing Matthew Kates who is returning to the US next month at the vendor's Boston headquarters.

Abbott has more than 20 years of experience in IT security and business transformation, with previous roles including country manager and Asia Pacific area vice president of Tufin and executive sales director at Trend Micro.

Furthermore, Abbott has also worked at Check Point, TippingPoint and RSA.

Zerto Asia Pacific vice-president, Andrew Martin, said Abbott’s appointment reinforced the vendor's commitment to the market, ensuring the business has the right skills and capabilities.

"Abbott’s experience in security, the protection of data and organisational assets, puts him in a very strong position to lead the Australian and New Zealand team to help support our growing customer base, as we continue to partner with leading cloud service providers and resellers,” Martin said.

"More than ever before, companies are increasingly aware of the need for IT resiliency. Zerto has experienced tremendous growth in Australia and New Zealand over the past 18 months which has really pushed our success across the whole region."

According to Abbott, a "significant market opportunity" exists within the trans-Tasman market, spanning key sectors such as financial services, government, healthcare and insurance.

"I’m looking forward to working with our customers to help them build resilient IT infrastructures, from which they can drive their digital transformation projects," Abbott added.
