Melbourne IT, Consegna, Versent, Bryte Systems and BNW Consulting have been recognised as the leading Amazon Web Services (AWS) partners across Australia and New Zealand (A/NZ).

Revealed on the eve of the AWS Summit in Sydney, the awards recognise leaders across the local channel that are playing a key role in helping end customers drive innovation using the vendor’s cloud platform.

The event also recognises partners whose business models continue to evolve and constantly drive costs down, while innovating for customers.

Specifically the awards saw 10 local AWS partners named as finalists, along with the five winners.

According to AWS A/NZ managing director, Paul Migliorini, the diverse nature of the latest AWS Partner Award winners reflect the opportunity provided for local partners that are focused on “helping customers remove the friction of managing IT infrastructure and set the platform for innovation”.

"AWS partners are adding value to customers across a wide range of industries, from banking and finance, to resources, the public sector, and increasingly, the Australian and New Zealand start-up sector,” he said.

"The winners of the 2018 AWS A/NZ Partner Awards are those who understand that customers can access more than 100 services to innovate in a myriad of ways – including some who bring new solutions to market and others who have been working with AWS since the launch of the AWS Sydney region more than five years ago.

"We are now seeing some of our partners starting to specialise and collaborate around artificial intelligence and machine learning, to power innovation for customers, in another sign it’s still day one."

Publicly-listed domain name registration and IT services player, Melbourne IT (ASX:MLB) took home the Innovation Partner of the year award for its work with a leading, top tier Australian bank.

The Innovation Partner award recognises partners that have developed an innovative capability on or integrated with AWS, with DiUS Consulting and Kablamo recognised as finalists.

Meanwhile, cloud consultancy firm, Versent, took home the AWS Consulting Partner honours for the second year in a row, fresh from recently being awarded Premier Partner status.

The Consulting Partner award acknowledges a partner that has delivered "consistently great" customer outcomes throughout the year, with finalists in the category coming in the form of CMD Solutions and Nebulr.

Meanwhile, Bryte Systems, an AWS Big Data Competency partner, was honoured as Technology Partner for its work with local telco, Vocus Communications (ASX:VOC).

The Technology Partner award recognises a technology partner that has leveraged the best of AWS, the vendor's Partner Network (APN), with CommVault and TechnologyOne as finalists.

In addition, SAP Competency Partner, BNW Consulting, won the Specialised Partner award for its work with Australian paper, packaging and recycling giant, Visy.

The Specialised Partner award goes to partners that have gone deep with AWS in a specific service, industry or competency and delivered customer success - the finalists were Soltius and Ultraserve.

New Zealand-based Consegna, a fast-growing Advanced tier partner, won the Rising Star award, which recognises relatively new APN partners that have achieved great success in a relatively short time. The finalists in this category were Nebulr and BNW Consulting.
