Cloud communications vendor RingCentral has opened its second office in Australia just five months after first launching in Asia Pacific.
The unified communications as-a-service (UCaaS) provider has hired Rob Ellis as a regional channel manager for its newly-launched business in Melbourne, with Matt Wilson to oversee channel partnerships for New South Wales and Queensland from Sydney.
A 20-year veteran of the IT and unified communications industries, Ellis will be focused on growing RingCentral’s channel footprint in Victoria and the southern region.
Ellis most recently worked at rival UCaas provider Access4 and has previously worked for Now Telecom and MyNetFone.
Meanwhile, Wilson spent the past five years managing Australia and New Zealand’s cloud and infrastructure partners at Hitachi Data Systems.
Prior to that, he spent eight years with Express Data, managing distribution of APC, Citrix, Microsoft, Plantronics, RSA and ShoreTel.
“Rob and Matt are seasoned channel professionals within the Australian IT industry and their roles will be 100 per cent focused on recruiting, enabling and supporting RingCentral partners,” said Ben Swanson, director of channel sales for Asia Pacific at RingCentral.
“They were each selected due to their own unique experiences, complementary skill sets and strong channel relationships that they bring to their roles at RingCentral Australia while embracing the values of our Channel Harmony partner program."
Headquartered in California, RingCentral first opened its APAC base in May this year and now has a local headcount of 10 people.
The vendor now works with approximately 30 channel partners in Australia, including, Dialog, a Google premier partner, and the distributor Telarus - now known as TradeWinds.
According to Swanson, the company will be looking at opening in Brisbane next before opening its first APAC office outside of Australia, citing Singapore, Japan, Hong Kong and New Zealand as potential new bases.
