Fuji Xerox Businessforce has been awarded an $8.36 million contract with the Department of Defence for digitisation services.
This is part of the Australian Defence Force (ADF) health records digitisation project, which was outlined in the 2016 Defence White Paper.
In the white paper, Defence detailed a new $133 million eHealth System being launched, which links ADF member' health data from recruitment to discharge enabling continuity of health care for all Defence personnel.
"Defence will improve the operation of this system by incorporating the pre-2014 paper-based health records of ADF members into the new electronic system, making them accessible wherever they serve," the papers stated at the time.
"This process will take a number of years to complete. To support improved health services, additional military medical officers will be available at major ADF bases."
Under the new contract, Fuji Xerox Businessforce will digitise the remaining hard copy medical records of all currently serving, active and standby reserve ADF personnel.
"Coupling the digitised content with the existing Defence e-Health System, electronic records will create a complete electronic health record for all ADF members," the spokesperson told ARN.
Included in the contract is the physical collection of health records held at Defence Health Clinics within Australia, preparation and scanning of physical health records, data capture and delivery of a digitised product to Defence.
The contract, which was published on the Government's tender website on 15 October, was awarded to Fuji Xerox in July and spans the duration of two years with an expected completion date of June 2020.
"The cornerstone of the project is the digitisation contract with Fuji Xerox," the Defence spokesperson added.
In March, the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) awarded Fuji Xerox Businessforce a $27 million Senate ballot scanning solution contract just months after the Australian National Audit Office (ANAO) pulled the agency up on an earlier Senate ballot scanning services deal with the supplier.
Fuji Xerox BusinessForce is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fuji Xerox Document Management Solutions, which is owned by Fuji Xerox Asia Pacific.
