Australian distributor Hills has installed its own nursing call system at the newly-opened Northern Beaches Hospital.
The health business division of ASX-listed Hills deployed its flagship IP7100 nurse call buttons at the hospital, which opened in Forest Hills, NSW, on 30 October.
According to Hills, the call solution was aimed at enhancing staff productivity and clinical workflows at the $840 million hospital.
“As the primary means of communication between patients and nursing staff, nurse call systems are front-line tools for delivering the best in patient care,” said Andy Hall, health solutions head at Hills. “Hills IP700 is an agile, customer-centric solution, and Hills offers a full end-to-end service 24/7, from design through to implementation.”
Owned by Healthscope, the new public-private hospital has 488 general admission beds and 50 for emergencies.
In addition to installing the nurses’ call system, Hills was also tasked with installing television screens onto 420 of the patient beds.
Developed by the US-based health technology vendor Lincor, the screens allow patients to watch TV and films, as well as call nurses, order food and view educational material.

Hills has been the exclusive Australian distributor of Lincor since 2014.
In 2016, Hills Limited proposed a merger of the health business with the vendor, which would have seen the division demerge from its owner and form a new publicly-listed company.
Although Lincor subsequently terminated the proposed deal, it continues to work with Hills to distribute its services in Australia.
