Destination currently unknown Matthew Oostveen has vacated his role as chief technology officer across Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) for Dell EMC’s modern data centre business, exiting the vendor after five years in the role. Effective immediately, Oostveen joined VCE five years ago, which was later bought by EMC, and then subsequently acquired by Dell EMC. Oostveen is considered an authority across a range of technologies including cloud computing, big data and analytics, mobility and the future workspace. “Like many successful join-ventures, VCE was bought out by its founder EMC, who in turn was acquired by Dell in 2016 to create Dell Technologies,” said Oostveen. “It has been a tremendous experience and I have learned much along the way.” At this stage, Oostveen has yet to confirm his next role within the industry. “I have been fortunate enough to be offered another seat on a rocketship, so it is time to buckle-up once more for another ride,” he added. “I continue my journey, this time at a new company and in a different city.” Prior to joining VCE and subsequently Dell EMC, Oostveen was research director at IDC, working for the analyst firm for more than six years. During this time, he was responsible for research across Australia and New Zealand, overseeing services, software, telecommunications, infrastructure and verticals. In addition, Oostveen held responsibility for identifying emerging trends, new business and pricing models, and assessing the interconnecting relationships between hardware and software technologies from a services solution perspective. Prior to IDC, Oostveen also held positions at Microsoft and IBM, where worked for three years and four years, respectfully.
