Dell Technologies is launching Dell Technologies on Demand, a service that contains multiple consumption-based and as-a-service hardware and software offerings, as well as the autonomous infrastructure system, Dell EMC PowerOne.
Jeff Clarke, vice chairman for Dell Technologies said the Dell Technologies on Demand service allows for organisations to be able to plan, deploy and manage their whole IT footprint.
“They can choose how they consume and pay for IT solutions that meet their needs with the freedom and flexibility to evolve as their needs change over time.”
Dell Technologies channel partner are also able to resell the service to their customers.
The new offering lets users access software-defined and hybrid cloud solutions through Dell Technologies Cloud and VMware, as well as modern data protection, personal computer (PC) and digital workspaces.
They can also utilise Dell Technologies Cloud, Dell Technologies Unified Workspace, Flex On Demand for PowerEdge Servers, ProDeploy, ProSupport and Managed Services, PC as-a-Service for small businesses, and the recently announced Dell EMC PowerOne, with Pay As You Grow, Flex On Demand and Data Centre Utility consumption options.
Dell EMC PowerOne has the capability of managing and automating manual information technology (IT) systems.
The technology integrates PowerEdge compute, PowerMax storage, PowerSwitch networking, PowerProtect protection and VMware virtualisation with an intelligence engine to allow for the automation of “thousands” of manual steps.
According to a statement by Dell Technologies, the automation engine utilises a Kubernetes microservices architecture and uses Ansible workflows to automate component configuration and provisioning to result in a user-managed data centre-as-a-service.
The PowerOne system uses a single system-level application programming interface (API) to give users control and can be tied into tools like service portals to deliver programmable IT operations, or infrastructure as code, to remove the need to log onto separate component management systems as well as being able to create workload-ready VMware clusters.
Harmeet Malhotra, senior director for Asia Pacific, Japan and Greater China of the Infrastructure Solutions Group Center of Competence at Dell Technologies, said that PowerOne combines Dell Technologies portfolios into one autonomous infrastructure system to automate manual IT operations.
“By reducing the number of manual tasks, PowerOne helps customers focus on outcomes, not maintenance, to accelerate their IT transformation journey,” Malhotra said.
Additionally, Dell Technologies also offers ProConsult migration and advisory services, ProDeploy to accelerate adoption and ProSupportPlus for ongoing support.
Other functions include Launch Assist to improve installation and configuration speeds, Lifecycle Assist to reduce infrastructure risk with automated modular system updates and validation and Expansion Assist to match infrastructure with business needs through automated provisioning and scaling features.
PowerOne will be available through Dell Technologies on Demand and will be released globally on 22 November.
Jeff Boudreau, president of Dell Technologies Infrastructure Solutions Group, added the automation from PowerOne allows for users to “focus less on managing technology and more from benefiting from it”.
