Commander wins TransGrid contract

Integrator's Volante business will develop an electronic outage system to better manage TransGrid's NSW services

NSW utilities company, TransGrid, has appointed Commander to develop an electronic outage system that will more efficiently manage planned outages and maintenance across the state.

Commander beat Avande and UniqueWorld in the tender which is worth more than $1 million.

The system is expected to be completed by July next year.

Commander's subsidiary, Volante, is handling the project. Commander general group manager, Steve Evans, said software solutions were a key part of Volante. This was the initial reason Commander acquired the company.

Commander and Volante have provided TransGrid with application development services over the last 18 months.

"We have had a strong relationship with TransGrid in the past, and this is an extension of the relationship. We certainly hope it will lead to more opportunities in the future," Evans said.

Steve was unavailable to comment on how this arrangement might affect Commander's bottom line, given the recent difficulties the company had experienced.
