Intellicentre 2 in the works but running late

Construction underway for new $60 million datacentre in North Ryde

Construction of Macquarie Telecom's (ASX: MAQ) second datacentre, situated in North Ryde, is progressing but the completion date has been pushed back to early 2012.

Macquarie Telecom managing director for hosting, Aidan Tudehope, said, “Engineered with a focus on sustainability, security and full N+1 redundancy for all elements including power, water and data, this dat centre marks a significant step forward in continuing to provide our customers with the best possible enterprise-grade data hosting and cloud services.”

Alongside the $10.8 million property purchase, Macquarie Telecom has spent another $49.2 million in development investment.

The centre promises to secure Macquarie Telecom’s clients current hosting requirements and support its corporate and government customers’ future needs.

“Macquarie Telecom has cemented its position as a strategic next-generation hosting, cloud & telecommunications company that is significantly contributing and supporting the NSW services-based industry,” Tudehope saidd.

The ‘world-class’ Intellicentre 2 was initially scheduled to open in late 2011 but its completion date has been nudged back to early 2012.
