Netgear’s products rollout at CES 2012

A range of new Wi-Fi, networking, storage, and media streaming products

Networking solutions company, Netgear spent its time at CES (Consumer Electronics Show) 2012 showcasing a range of Wi-Fi, networking, storage, and media products it has scheduled to release in the near future.

Of the range, three products have won CES Innovations Design and Engineering Awards.

Wi-Fi

Netgear is promising an enhanced Wi-Fi experience with its WN2500RP adapter. The product aims to reduce interference for users with multiple high-bandwidth streaming devices by offering simultaneous dual-band Wi-Fi on 2.4Ghz and 5GHz bands concurrently.

The adapter is equipped with FastLane Technology and four ports, and allows for simple installation.

The WN2500RP will be accompanied by the WNDA4100 adapter, which delivers 450mbps Wi-Fi speed on either 2.4GHz or 5GHz frequencies, making it suitable for high-demand applications.

Netgear has also announced that it will introduce new wireless network devices with IEEE 802.11ac Wi-Fi. It operates at three times the speed of 802.11n, increases bandwidth on mobile devices, and extends coverage range.

Converging home networking and storage

The Media Storage Router (WNDR4700) combines the ability to store and use data, with the demand for high-speed wireless connectivity to accommodate for growth in household devices.

The product operates on 450 and 450 dual-band at 2.4GHz and 5GHz frequencies. Its built-in hard drive has a 2TB storage capacity, and contains two USB 3.0 ports.

The WNDR4700 was one of Netgear’s award-winning products at the CES.

Home theatre

Netgear’s home theatre and gaming-friendly Powerline 500 Nano (XAVB5101) transforms an electric wall outlet into a network connection. The plug-and-play device allows speeds of up to 500mbps, and has energy-saving features which activate when it is not in use.

Netgear has also unveiled its new N900 Video and Gaming 4-Port Wi-Fi Adapter (WNCE4004). As the name suggest, the device contains four 10/100mbps Ethernet ports for audiovisual devices, and has Wi-Fi Protected Access, alongside WEP data encryption.

Home DSL and cable connectivity

The N750 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit DSL Modem Router (DGND4000), another award winner, combines an integrated DSL modem with wireless router speeds of up to 450mbps.

The device is equipped with ReadyShare Cloud for remote access to the USB hard drive, and ReadyShare Printer to convert USB printers into networked printers.

Genie Mobile

Netgear’s Genie, originally a desktop-exclusive network management application and the first software award winner from the Company, is now going mobile. Compatible with iOS and Android devices, the app enables home network monitoring, control, and repair.

The Genie Mobile’s MyMedia feature transforms smartphones and tablets into DLNA controllers, allowing users to push data to SmartTVs.

The app will be available in the Apple App Store and Android Market.

Smart Network Cloud Application Platform

The Smart Network Cloud Application Platform allows users to purchase and download apps from the Cloud to personalise their home network.

With the apps, consumers are given extended capabilities and controls for connected Netgrear home network devices.

All devices and solutions are yet to be released.
