Slater and Gordon embrace BYOD with Good Technology solution

Slater and Gordon has deployed a Good Technology mobility solution to support the firm’s fleet of corporate and BYOD smartphones and tablets.

The company is now running Good for Enterprise, which replaced Microsoft ActiveSync.

Slater and Gordon infrastructure manager, Eric Yew, said ActiveSync’s limitations became apparent with the increasing popularity of ‘Bring Your Own Device’ in the organization.

“As more employees wanted to use their own smartphones, ActiveSync was no longer a viable solution for us,” he said.

“For example, our staff did not want the IT department imposing device-wide logins and policy on their own phones and impeding access to their personal applications,” he said.

Yew said Slater and Gordon’s IT department assessed mobile solutions available on the market, and from a shortlist of two, elected to trial Good for Enterprise.

“Good’s secure container approach means that corporate and personal information is strictly separated on the device, which is an important distinction from an employee perspective when they are supplying their own phone,” he said.

“We also liked the fact that GFE offers multi-platform support.”

Good for Enterprise has been certified as Common Criteria Evaluation Assurance Level 4 Augmented (EAL4+).

It is the only solution to meet this level of certification on both iOS and Android, according to a company statement.
