Acronis DR cloud will land in A/NZ this year

Ingram Micro, Rhipe, Synnex and Exeed selected as local distributors

Australia and New Zealand channel partners will have access to Acronis' DR cloud service before the end of the year, ARN can confirm.

The cyber protection platform, which is used by Formula One teams including Williams and Force India, will be available through Ingram Micro, Rhipe, Synnex in Australia and Exeed for the New Zealand market.

Built upon Acronis Backup Cloud, the platform will allow service providers to recover customers’ IT systems, applications and data using the vendor’s existing cloud infrastructure.

Additionally, the technology will allow service providers to sell DR-as-a-cloud from their existing management systems, in what has been called a first in the market by Acronis.

"The Acronis DR cloud will deliver world-class data protection and disaster recovery for virtual, physical, mobile and cloud environments," Warren Nolan, chief commercial officer at Rhipe, told ARN.

"This will enable our partners to diversify their cloud portfolio and increase their share of wallet. This aligns with our vision of a world without shelf ware [technology purchased but never implemented]."

Founded in Singapore and headquartered in Switzerland, Acronis launched its Backup Cloud, a backup-as-a-service solution for channel partners, in Australia last year.

At the same time, the vendor also launched its DR cloud, plus its management platform, Files Cloud, in the US and the UK.

“Acronis is a cloud company with 100 per cent partner focus,” said John Zanni, president of Acronis during last year’s launch. “Whatever we do in the cloud space, we do it with partners.

"Acronis’ solutions help service providers to monetise their customer relationships by offering all the data protection services their customers need."

Acronis recently launched a strategic partnership with Microsoft to integrate its data protection products with Azure cloud services.

The partnership means that Azure is now offered as a storage destination option alongside Acronis Cloud and other public cloud service vendors in Acronis products.
