Acer has launched two new notebook series - the Aspire Gemstone and TravelMate ProFile.
The new Aspire consumer-based product line was the first to feature Dolby Home Theatre and Dolby Digital Live, the vendor said. The Gemstone notebook's speakers, which are 40 per cent larger than previous models, offer quality acoustics and surround sound. For convenience of use, Aspire notebooks have seven touch sensitive media keys that provide functions such as stop and play for DVDs. The machines also feature a Web cam and a sapphire blue Empowering key, allowing users to access application settings such as security and backup. Models will also include fast next-generation CrystalBrite display, a card reader, DVD SM, SATA hard drives.
TravelMate ProFile products are also equipped with the empowering feature and made out of magnesium alloy, which is lighter than plastic and is capable of protecting the machine against shock, vibration, dust, rain and everyday bumps and knocks. Other features include BioProtect technology for finger recognition security. Users simply swipe their finger across the reader to access content.
The Aspire notebooks will be launched in June via retailers, and some models will be priced under $1000 after cashback. Resellers can gain access to the TravelMate range through Acer distributors - Ingram Micro, Bluechip Infotech and Cellnet in June.
