Apple is reportedly looking to Taiwan-based Quanta Computer to manufacture a bigger iPad and an iWatch in 2014.
That's according to DigiTimes, which claims that the supplier will build an iPad with a larger display for a late 2014 launch. DigiTimes' supply chain sources claim that Quanta is expecting to "encounter several challenges" when it comes to building the bigger iPad, which could cause limited supply of the tablet upon launch.
This is not the first we've heard about the possibility of a bigger iPad. In early November reports from China said that Foxconn has been testing bigger iPad production ahead of a March launch, while a 12.9in Retina display has allegedly been spotted in Apple's supply chain.
Quanta is also said to be joining forces with Inventec and Foxconn to Apple's first venture into wearable tech, the rumoured iWatch, which could be set for a launch within the first half of next year.
Pilot production for the iWatch is believed to be underway, but low yield rates have pushed mass production back to the second quarter of 2014, the sources say.
Earlier this month, reports suggested that Apple had put development its rumoured iTV television set on hold in order to focus on a 2014 iWatch launch. Rumours of an iWatch have been circulating since the beginning of the year, and with competing devices such as Samsung's Galaxy Gear hitting the market, speculation has been hotting up in recent months.
